Bhairav Jatra in Kathmandu Valley
Bhairav Jatra is not a single fixed festival but a collective term for the Kathmandu Valley's many local celebrations honoring Bhairav, Shiva's fierce protector form. Distinct communities, including Kathmandu's Indra Chowk, the Pachali area, Kirtipur, Bode and Thimi, each maintain their own Bhairav shrine and hold jatras on different dates tied to their own local calendars.
