Buddha Jayanti Nepal in Lumbini/Kathmandu/Nationwide
Buddha Jayanti marks the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha on a single full moon day in the month of Baisakh. Nepal observes it nationwide, with the deepest devotion at Lumbini, the Buddha's birthplace, and at the great stupas of Swayambhunath and Boudhanath in the Kathmandu Valley.
Once a year, on the full moon of the Nepali month of Baisakh, Buddhist and many Hindu communities across Nepal pause to mark a single day that holds three of the most consequential moments in the life of Siddhartha Gautama: his birth in the Lumbini gardens, his enlightenment beneath the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, and his passing into parinirvana in Kushinagar.
