Pathibhara Festival in Taplejung

The Pathibhara Festival draws pilgrims to the Pathibhara Devi Temple, a major Shaktipeeth perched at 3,794 meters in the Taplejung hills near Kanchenjunga. Worshippers travel from across Nepal and India believing that reaching the remote mountain shrine fulfills long-held wishes and brings lasting good fortune.

High above Taplejung, at an elevation of nearly 3,800 meters on a secondary route to the Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek, sits one of Nepal's most significant Shakti Peethas, sacred sites believed to mark where fragments of the goddess Sati's body fell after Shiva carried her corpse in grief.
