International Film Festival Rotterdam in Rotterdam
International Film Festival Rotterdam, known as IFFR, takes over Rotterdam's cinemas every late January and early February. Founded in 1972, it champions independent, experimental and arthouse cinema from around the world, screening several hundred features and shorts including many world premieres, alongside its industry-facing CineMart co-production market for emerging filmmakers.
Every winter, as most of the Netherlands settles into its coldest, darkest weeks, Rotterdam's cinemas light up for the International Film Festival Rotterdam, known worldwide by its acronym IFFR.
