Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht
The Netherlands Film Festival is Utrecht's annual celebration of Dutch cinema and television, held each September into October. Over roughly a week the festival screens Dutch features, documentaries and series, culminating in the Gouden Kalf, or Golden Calf, awards gala that hands out the country's most prestigious national film prizes.
Each September, while Amsterdam and Rotterdam host festivals built around discovering international cinema, the university city of Utrecht turns its attention inward with the Netherlands Film Festival, the country's principal showcase for Dutch-made film and television.
