Into The Great Wide Open in Vlieland
Into The Great Wide Open is an intimate music and arts festival held each late August on Vlieland, a car-free Wadden Sea island. Organized annually since 2009, it combines rock, punk, folk and indie performances with art installations, film screenings, expeditions and lectures set among dunes, forest and beach.
Reaching Into The Great Wide Open requires more effort than most music festivals: a ferry crossing to Vlieland, one of the Dutch Wadden Sea islands, where cars are banned and the pace of life slows accordingly.
