Auckland Arts Festival in Auckland
Auckland Arts Festival, known in Maori as Te Ahurei Toi o Tamaki Makaurau, runs an annual March programme of dance, music, theatre, and visual art across the Aotea Arts Precinct. Descended from a 1953 coronation-year festival and relaunched in 2003, it has run annually since 2016 and commissions up to six new New Zealand works each year.
Auckland's tradition of a major civic arts festival stretches back further than most people realise.
