The story

Electric Avenue in Christchurch

Electric Avenue is a music festival in Christchurch's Hagley Park, launched on Waitangi Day 2015 with local headliners and grown into a two-day event drawing around 70,000 people by 2025. Founded by Callam Mitchell's Team Event, it partially sold to international promoter Live Nation in 2025 ahead of its 27 to 28 February 2026 edition.

Electric Avenue began on Waitangi Day, 6 February 2015, when Christchurch promoter Callam Mitchell, through his company Team Event, staged a one-day festival in Hagley Park built around New Zealand's reggae and drum and bass scene, headlined by Shapeshifter, Fat Freddy's Drop, and Ladi6.
