Founded in Auckland in 2006 by four film-loving organisers, Show Me Shorts is New Zealand's leading short film festival, screening around 80 selected films at roughly 40 venues nationwide each October, including the country's first Oscar-accredited and BAFTA-qualifying short film festival award categories for filmmakers.

Show Me Shorts began in Auckland in 2006, founded by four organisers, Gina Dellabarca, Tamara Liebman, Katrin Hagen and Kate Nicholson, who had noticed that New Zealand filmmakers produced an unusually high volume of strong short films without any easy way for local audiences to actually see them.
