Fiestas Patronales de Boaco in Boaco
Boaco celebrates its patron, Santiago Apostol, across a monthlong calendar running from late June through July 31, with July 25 as the principal feast day. The festival is built around bailantes, campesino dancers who leave their fieldwork to fulfill devotional promises, alongside topes, bullfights, and equestrian parades.
Boaco, a town built across steep hills in Nicaragua's cattle country, spends much of every July honoring its patron, Santiago Apostol, in a festival that runs longer and reaches deeper into rural life than many of the country's other fiestas patronales.
