Fiestas Patronales de Camoapa in Camoapa
Camoapa's patron festival honors San Francisco de Asis, opening September 24 with the lowering of his image from the altar and culminating on October 4 with mass and procession. Bull-riding competitions fill the arena on multiple days, and devotees dressed in brown Franciscan tunics accompany the saint through the streets.
Camoapa, a cattle-ranching town in Boaco department known across Nicaragua for its dairy production, holds its patron festival each year in honor of San Francisco de Asis, the town's namesake saint since its founding under Spanish colonial rule.
