Fiestas de San Sebastian Diriamba in Diriamba
Diriamba has honored its patron San Sebastian for more than three centuries with a festival running roughly January 10 through the first Sunday of February. Processions on January 19, 20, and 27 bring together the images of San Sebastian, Santiago, and San Marcos, escorted by folkloric dances including El Gueguense, Toro Huaco, and Gigante.
In the Carazo department town of Diriamba, south of Managua, the patron-saint festival honoring San Sebastian has been celebrated for more than three hundred years, making it one of the oldest continuously observed fiestas patronales in Nicaragua.
