Festival des Civilisations du Fleuve Niger Alzanaye in Boubon/Tillaberi
Festival des Civilisations du Fleuve Niger, known locally as Alzanaye or FECIF, is an annual river-tourism and cultural gathering held in Boubon, commune of Karma, in Niger's Tillaberi region. Launched in 2008 to revive local tourism along the Niger River, it brings together Zarma-Songhai and Fulani riverside communities for two days of net-throwing contests, pirogue racing, and celebration of the river valley's shared cultural heritage.
Boubon sits on the Niger River in the commune of Karma, part of Niger's Tillaberi region, and each spring the riverbank becomes the stage for the Festival des Civilisations du Fleuve Niger, known to most simply as Alzanaye.
