Journee Internationale de la Culture Toubou in Zinder
Journee Internationale de la Culture Toubou is celebrated annually on September 15 across Libya, Chad, Niger, and Sudan, home to the Toubou people. The fifth edition took place in Zinder on September 15, 2025, at Lawan Didi Manzo stadium, honoring Toubou identity, values of resilience, hospitality, and freedom, and the pastoral, camel-herding economy central to Toubou life across the Sahara and Sahel.
Every September 15, the Toubou people mark their culture on the same day across four countries at once, Libya, Chad, Niger, and Sudan, a coordination that reflects the reality of a population spread across roughly 1.3 million square kilometers of Saharan and Sahelian territory rather than confined within a single national border.
