The Abuja Carnival is Nigeria's national culture festival, staged annually in the federal capital, bringing together representations of Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory through masquerade performances, durbar-style horsemanship, music, and street parades intended to showcase the country's ethnic diversity to a national and international audience.
When Nigeria's federal government sought a single event capable of representing the country's extraordinary ethnic and cultural diversity in its own purpose-built capital, the result was the Abuja Carnival, a national culture festival staged annually in Abuja that brings together cultural delegations from the country's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
