Gombe Durbar Festival in Gombe
The Gombe Durbar is an Eid-season equestrian and cultural festival of the Gombe Emirate, founded by Buba Yero, a flag-bearer of the nineteenth-century Sokoto jihad, in which mounted title-holders parade before the Emir through the city in the shared Hausa-Fulani Durbar tradition of northern Nigeria.
Gombe Emirate owes its founding to Buba Yero, one of the flag-bearers entrusted by Usman dan Fodio during the early nineteenth-century Sokoto jihad to extend the movement's authority into new territory.
