Agemo Festival Ijebu in Ijebu
The Agemo Festival is one of the most spiritually significant traditional observances of the Ijebu people in Ogun State, centered on the worship of Agemo, a deity closely tied to the Ijebu kingship system, whose priests historically served as kingmakers with authority over the selection and installation of the Awujale.
Within Ijebuland, the historic Yoruba kingdom centered on Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State, few traditions carry as much combined religious and political weight as the worship of Agemo.
