Asa Arokolo Festival Ikorodu in Ikorodu
The Asa Festival, locally known as Agere, is an annual Ikorodu tradition centered on Asa stilt-walking masquerade performance, operated since 2017 by the Ikorodu Division Rebirth Foundation with the support of the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, and recognized that year by the Lagos State Government as one of its official cultural festivals.
In Ikorodu, a fast-growing part of Lagos State with its own distinct traditions predating the city's metropolitan expansion, the Asa Festival, known locally as Agere, keeps alive one of the more visually striking masquerade arts in Yoruba culture: stilt-walking performance.
