Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar in Ilorin

The Ilorin Emirate Durbar is an annual equestrian and cultural festival held in Ilorin following Eid al-Adha, rooted in the 1830s when it commemorated Ilorin's military victory over combined Oyo Empire and Baruba forces. Emir Sulu Gambari revived the full ceremonial celebration in 2018 after a period of reduced observance.

Ilorin occupies an unusual place in Nigeria's religious and political geography: a Yoruba-founded city that became a Fulani-led emirate in the early 19th century after a jihad led by Sheikh Alimi transformed its governance and religious character.
