Katsina Durbar Festival in Katsina
The Katsina Durbar is an Eid-season equestrian and cultural festival staged by the Katsina Emirate, one of the historic Hausa city-states, featuring mounted parades, ceremonial homage to the Emir, and displays of horsemanship rooted in Katsina's long history as a center of Hausa political and religious life.
Katsina holds a distinctive place in Hausa history as one of the Hausa Bakwai, the seven original city-states whose kingdoms shaped the political, religious, and commercial life of what is now northern Nigeria for centuries before the region's incorporation into colonial and later national structures.
