CarniRiv, or the Port Harcourt Carnival, is an annual state-organized festival in Rivers State that runs for about a week starting a few weeks before Christmas. It blends Rivers State's own cultural heritage, described locally as the land of a thousand masquerades, with contemporary Caribbean-style carnival elements such as costumed float parades.

Port Harcourt closes out the year with a carnival built specifically to hold together one of Nigeria's most ethnically diverse states.
