Jugendfest in Alesund
Jugendfest is a two-day open-air concert weekend staged on Aksla, the hillside above Alesund harbour, each August. Billed by organizers as one of the largest festival weekends in Western Norway, it draws crowds for a mix of Norwegian pop, rock and dance acts on an outdoor stage overlooking the town and fjord.
Public information on Jugendfest's founding is thin, but the event fits a pattern seen in several mid-sized Norwegian towns: a commercially organized, open-air pop and rock concert weekend aimed primarily at a youth and young-adult audience, staged annually in high summer.
