Alta Live in Alta

Alta Live, known until 2019 as Aronnesrocken, began informally in 1996 when friends played music together in a garden in Alta, Finnmark, and grew into a proper two-day festival by 2006 drawing over 2,000 people. Held each mid-August, it is now considered Finnmark's biggest rock festival and remains known for keeping ticket prices low.

In 1996, a group of friends in Alta, a town in Norway's far-northern Finnmark region, carried their instruments into a garden and played music for each other, with no particular ambition beyond enjoying themselves.
