Borealis Festival in Bergen
Borealis is Bergen's annual contemporary music festival, running since 2006 as a continuation of the earlier Music Factory and Autunnale festivals. Backed by a large number of Bergen cultural institutions, it presents experimental and newly composed music across the city each year, alongside talks and workshops.
Bergen's musical reputation rests heavily on the legacy of Edvard Grieg, the Romantic composer whose home city still shapes much of its cultural identity around his nineteenth century compositions and the broader choral and classical traditions that followed him.
