Landskappleiken in Rotating host
Landskappleiken is Norway's national championship for traditional folk music and dance, first held in Bo i Telemark in 1888 and still moving to a new host town each year. Organized today by FolkOrg with local fiddlers' associations, it centers on competitive performance in hardingfele, ordinary fiddle, accordion and kveding song, alongside folk dance classes, drawing competitors from across Norway and occasionally abroad to whichever community hosts that year's edition.
Landskappleiken began in 1888 in Bo i Telemark, at a moment when Norwegian folk musicians were looking for a way to formalize what had long been informal: local gatherings where fiddlers measured themselves against each other.
