OverOslo is an annual music festival held at Grefsenkollen, a hilltop area in Oslo, running since 2011 under directors Thorkild Gundersen and Lars Petter Fosdahl. It grew out of more than 70 sold-out intimate concerts staged at the small Festsalen venue in 2009 and 2010. OverOslo's roots lie in an unusually intimate experiment: before the festival existed in its current form, organizers staged more than 70 concerts through autumn 2009 and winter 2010 at Festsalen, a Grefsenkollen venue holding only about 130 people, with tickets that always sold out quickly
Performers during that period included Jan Eggum, who played the very first show, alongside Lars Lillo-Stenberg, Odd Nordstoga, Jonas Fjeld, Ole Paus, Jarle Bernhoft, Susanne Sundfør and Bugge Wesseltoft
That grassroots concert series became the launchpad for the festival proper, which debuted in 2011 with Bjørn Eidsvåg and Thomas Dybdahl as its first festival artists and has run annually at Grefsenkollen since, growing into one of Norway's largest music festivals with more than 28,000 visitors, and hosting the comedy festival Humor OverOslo since 2022
