Tromso International Film Festival in Tromso
The Tromso International Film Festival (TIFF) is Norway's largest film festival, held every January during the third week of the month, deep in the polar night. Founded in 1991, it has grown from about 5,200 admissions in its first year to more than 60,000 in recent editions, screening across six venues including Verdensteatret, Norway's oldest cinema still in continuous use.
The Tromso International Film Festival began in 1991, when local film enthusiasts and the team behind the town's cinema set out to broaden Norway's film culture beyond the capital.
