Dokfilm Volda in Volda
Dokfilm Volda is Norway's oldest and largest festival dedicated to Norwegian documentary film, held each spring in the coastal town of Volda. Founded in 1997, it screens the year's best Norwegian documentaries, supports emerging filmmakers, and runs a dedicated Children's Day alongside talks and an opening film.
Volda is not a large town, tucked along Norway's west coast, but since 1997 it has been home to something genuinely rare in Norwegian cultural life: the country's oldest and largest festival built entirely around domestic documentary film.
