Bukha Carnival in Bukha
Bukha Carnival is a heritage festival held in the coastal town of Bukha in Oman's Musandam Governorate, typically running through late January under the patronage of the local wali. It features Al Maydan war-dance displays, traditional Al Barah and Al Razha folk performances, live halwa-making demonstrations and family entertainment.
Musandam occupies a strange position on the map of Oman: a mountainous peninsula jutting into the Strait of Hormuz, physically cut off from the rest of the country by a stretch of United Arab Emirates territory, its fjord-like coastline earning it the nickname the Norway of Arabia.
