Faisalabad Literature Festival in Faisalabad

The Faisalabad Literature Festival, also called the Faisalabad Literary Festival, is a two-day annual event at the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium organized by the Lyallpur Literary Council, now running more than a decade with sessions on literature and poetry featuring established Pakistani writers, journalists, and artists.

Faisalabad, Pakistan's third-largest city and a major textile-manufacturing center still commonly known by its colonial-era name Lyallpur, has built its own literary institution in the Faisalabad Literature Festival, run for more than a decade by the Lyallpur Literary Council, a nonprofit whose current leadership includes Musadaq Zulqarnain as President and Patron-in-Chief.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Run consistently by the Lyallpur Literary Council for more than ten straight years - an eleventh edition was reported in December 2024 - the festival has built a track record rare among Pakistan's regional literary events, most of which are newer or less consistently staged than the flagship festivals in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad

02

The mystery stays covered

Its venue, the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium, named for the late Faisalabad-born qawwali legend, ties the festival symbolically to the city's most famous cultural export even though its own program centers on literature rather than music

03

The city starts moving

Past editions have featured prominent Urdu literary figures including Iftikhar Arif, Asghar Nadeem Syed, Abbas Tabish, and Arfa Sayeda Zehra, giving a comparatively smaller industrial city direct access to writers who typically headline festivals in Pakistan's larger metropolises
