Baisakhi Hasan Abdal in Hasan Abdal
Every mid-April, Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hasan Abdal becomes the largest Sikh gathering point in Pakistan as pilgrims mark Baisakhi, the 1699 founding of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh. Thousands travel from India, Canada, the United States, and Europe to the shrine built around a boulder said to bear Guru Nanak's handprint, joining days of prayer, kirtan, and community service.
Gurdwara Panja Sahib sits on a low rise in Hasan Abdal, about forty-five kilometres from Islamabad, built around a story that has circulated among Sikhs for centuries.
