Christmas Eve in Bethlehem in Bethlehem
Christmas Eve in Bethlehem centers on Manger Square and the adjoining Church of the Nativity, where a procession led by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem arrives from Jerusalem ahead of a midnight Catholic Mass marking the traditional birthplace of Jesus. Carol singing and a large lit Christmas tree fill the square through the evening.
Every December 24, the town of Bethlehem organizes itself around a single point in its history: the tradition that the Church of the Nativity stands over the exact site where Jesus was born.
