Orthodox Easter Monday in Bethlehem/Jerusalem
Orthodox Easter Monday follows Orthodox Pascha, the Eastern Christian Easter Sunday that in Jerusalem is preceded by the Holy Fire ceremony at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on the preceding Holy Saturday, and is marked mainly by continued family and church activity among Palestinian Orthodox Christians.
Orthodox Easter Monday falls immediately after Pascha, the Eastern Christian Easter Sunday, within a season that in Jerusalem is dominated by one of Christianity's more distinctive surviving rituals: the Holy Fire ceremony, held the preceding day, Holy Saturday, inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
