Palestine Festival of Literature in Ramallah/Jerusalem/Bethlehem
The Palestine Festival of Literature, known as PalFest, is an annual literary festival founded in 2008 by novelist Ahdaf Soueif. Visiting and Palestinian writers travel together between Ramallah, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nablus, and Haifa to stage free public readings, panels, and workshops in Arabic and English, bringing literature directly to audiences whose own movement across these cities is often restricted.
PalFest was founded in 2008 by the Egyptian-British novelist Ahdaf Soueif, who remains its founding chair, with a stated aim of affirming the power of culture over the culture of power.
