Riwaq Biennale in Ramallah/Birzeit
Riwaq Biennale is an architecture and contemporary art biennial organized since 2005 by Riwaq, the Centre for Architectural Conservation, a Ramallah-based organization dedicated to preserving rural Palestinian architectural heritage. Directed by artist and curator Khalil Rabah, it has engaged internationally known curators, including Charles Esche for its second and third editions, to activate historic village sites across the West Bank, including in the Birzeit area.
Riwaq Biennale was established in 2005 under the direction of Khalil Rabah, an artist who, according to Wikipedia's entry on him, has served as director of the Riwaq Biennale in Ramallah since that year, while also teaching at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
