Corpus Christi de Parita in Parita

Held alongside its sister celebration in nearby La Villa de Los Santos, Parita's Corpus Christi festival falls sixty days after Easter and features its own distinct lineage of diablicos sucios and dances found nowhere else, including the Montezuma Pariteña and the Danza del Torito Pariteno. Like the wider Panamanian Corpus Christi tradition, it was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2021.

Parita is a small colonial town in Herrera province, just a short distance from La Villa de Los Santos, and the two towns share the same source for their most famous festival: the Catholic feast of Corpus Christi, fixed sixty days after Easter, which Spanish colonizers brought to the isthmus centuries ago.
