Bandera Jere in Aregua
The Ritual Festivo Bandera Jere is a devotional tradition in the Caacupemi community of Aregua, Cordillera department, held every June 14 in honor of San Antonio de Padua. Groups of promeseros dressed in traditional Paraguayan clothing carry flags and collection boxes door to door, a practice declared National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2022.
Every June 14, in the small community of Caacupemi, part of the district of Aregua in Paraguay's Cordillera department, groups of ten to twenty people set out from house to house carrying Paraguayan flags and small collection boxes called alcancias.
