The story

Feria ORE de Arte y Artesania Indigena in Asuncion

An indigenous handicraft fair in Asuncion organized by the Paraguayan Institute of Crafts since 2019, bringing together artisans from many of Paraguay's native peoples to sell and showcase basketry, feather art, textiles, and wood carvings in a fair-trade setting aimed at strengthening indigenous producers' livelihoods.

Since 2019, the Paraguayan Institute of Crafts has organized Feria ORE in Asuncion as a dedicated marketplace and cultural platform for the country's indigenous artisans, a group whose work is often otherwise absorbed into generic craft markets without specific recognition of origin.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Feria ORE (ore meaning we or us in Guarani) draws participants from an unusually wide range of indigenous nations, including Ava Guarani, Ache, Pai Tavytera, Mbya Guarani, Guarani Occidental, Enxet Sur, Enlhet Norte, Sanapana, Nivacle, Manjui, Maka, Ayoreo, Ishir, Chamacoco and Qom, making it one of the broadest single showcases of Paraguay's indigenous artisanal diversity, explicitly framed around fair trade and strengthening producers' organizational structures and market access rather than tourism spectacle alone
