Festival Nacional del Nanduti in Itaugua

Paraguay's oldest dedicated craft festival, held annually in Itaugua since 1970 to celebrate nanduti, the delicate spiderweb-pattern lace embroidery for which the town is nationally and internationally known, over three consecutive nights of exhibitions, fashion shows, and folkloric performance drawing crowds from Asuncion and beyond each March.

Nanduti, whose name derives from the Guarani word for spider, is a circular, radiating lace embroidery technique practiced by hundreds of women across the rural areas surrounding Itaugua, a town not far from Asuncion, and it stands as one of the clearest emblems of Paraguayan craftsmanship recognized both domestically and abroad.
