Itaugua, a town in Central department not far from Asuncion, holds a specific and well-recognized place in Paraguayan craft history as the home of nandutí, a circular lace technique whose name comes directly from the Guarani word for spiderweb, describing the delicate, radiating patterns the lace forms.
