Festival del Ao Po'i in Yataity
The Expoferia del Ao Po'i is Yataity's annual showcase of ao po'i, the finely woven cotton cloth that has defined this small Guaira town for generations. Held since 1997, usually between November and December, it gathers artisans from across Paraguay to sell their textile work directly to visitors over three days.
Yataity del Guaira is a town of well under 5,000 people, and its name is inseparable from a single craft: ao po'i, a finely woven, intricately embroidered cotton cloth whose name means thin cloth in Guarani.
