Fiesta de San Juan Amazonia Peruana in Amazonian cities
Fiesta de San Juan is the Peruvian Amazon's most important annual celebration, held every June 24 across river cities including Iquitos, Tarapoto, Yurimaguas and Pucallpa to honor Saint John the Baptist through dawn river bathing, shared feasting on juane and communal pandilla dancing that lasts through the night.
Each year on June 24, towns along the Amazon, Ucayali and Huallaga rivers wake before sunrise for one of Peru's most distinctive regional celebrations.
