Marcha del Orgullo Lima in Lima
Lima's Pride march is Peru's largest LGBTQ+ rights demonstration, held annually in the capital since the first organized Corso Gay marched from Avenida 28 de Julio to Plaza Francia on July 6, 2002. Building on clandestine gatherings dating to 1995, the march now draws crowds estimated in the tens of thousands, moving from Campo de Marte to a closing rally with speeches and music.
Before Lima's Pride march became the multi-city, tens-of-thousands-strong event it is now, it was a handful of people risking exposure.
