PArC Peru Arte Contemporaneo in Lima
PArC, short for Peru Arte Contemporaneo, is Lima's international contemporary art fair, bringing together galleries from Peru and across Latin America to exhibit and sell work by emerging and established artists. Held annually in the city, the fair has become a fixture on the regional contemporary art calendar, attracting collectors, curators, and artists working across painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
Lima's contemporary art scene developed more slowly than those of some other major Latin American capitals through much of the twentieth century, shaped in part by the country's colonial-era art institutions and a gallery ecosystem that historically leaned toward more traditional and pre-Hispanic-influenced work.
