Each October 14, Moquegua honors Santa Fortunata, whose remains have rested in the city's cathedral since arriving from the Vatican in 1798, in one of the few churches in the world that venerates a saint's body in cuerpo presente. The feast draws the faithful for mass and procession in the historic center of this southern Peruvian city.
