International Spring Festival Trujillo in Trujillo
Trujillo's International Spring Festival is one of Peru's most emblematic civic celebrations, held each September or October with a grand corso parade of decorated floats, marinera dancing filling the streets, and the crowning of a Spring Queen before packed colonial-era plazas and crowds of returning Trujillanos.
Trujillo, capital of the La Libertad region and one of Peru's oldest Spanish colonial cities, has built its most visible annual celebration around a season that, in coastal desert Peru, brings little dramatic change in weather but carries strong symbolic weight as a marker of renewal.
