Kahimunan Festival is Butuan City's version of the Sinulog-style Santo Nino celebration, held every third Sunday of January at the Santo Nino Diocesan Shrine in Barangay Libertad, blending Manobo indigenous gathering traditions with Catholic devotion. Founded in 1987 by the shrine's first parish priest, it is considered the largest festivity in the entire Caraga Region.

Kahimunan is a word from the language of the Manobo Indigenous people of Mindanao, and it means, roughly, the gathering of people to celebrate culture and tradition.
