Pasayahan sa Lucena is Lucena City's Mardi-Gras-style civic festival, held the last week of May in honor of founding and patron saint St. Ferdinand. Launched in 1987 to improve the city's image during a period of insurgency-related unrest, it features a grand parade, a pandong hat competition, and the local pancit chami noodle dish.

In the mid-1980s, Lucena City carried a reputation shaped by insurgent activity associated with the New People's Army, a perception local officials worried was holding back the city's growth and its standing as the capital of Quezon Province.
