The story

Aliwan Fiesta in Pasay/Manila

Aliwan Fiesta is an annual showcase competition held in the Pasay and Manila area bringing together winning street-dance and float contingents from regional festivals across the Philippines, such as Sinulog, Dinagyang and others, to compete for prizes on a single national stage before large Metro Manila audiences.

Aliwan Fiesta was established in the early 2000s in Metro Manila as a way of bringing the country's most celebrated regional festivals together in one place, rather than requiring audiences to travel separately to Cebu for Sinulog, Iloilo for Dinagyang, Kalibo for Ati-Atihan or other provinces for their own local celebrations.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Rather than being tied to one local legend or feast day, Aliwan Fiesta functions as a festival of festivals, inviting top-performing groups from across the country's regional celebrations to travel to Metro Manila and compete against each other in street dance, float design and other categories, giving audiences in the capital a concentrated look at festival traditions they would otherwise need to travel to different provinces and islands to see individually
