Boleslawiec Pottery Festival in Boleslawiec
The Boleslawiec Pottery Festival, known locally as Boleslawieckie Swieto Ceramiki, is an annual late-August celebration of the town's centuries-old stoneware tradition, drawing collectors from across Europe and beyond to buy hand-stamped Bunzlauer-style pottery direct from its workshops, factory outlets, and individual makers each year without fail.
Long before it became a name recognized by collectors from Britain to the United States, Boleslawiec was simply a Lower Silesian town sitting on clay deposits well suited to stoneware, and its potters had already been firing brown-glazed jugs and bowls for the better part of two centuries by the time anyone thought to build a festival around the craft.
